Stara Sava is the central part of the town of Jesenice, built at the confluence of the Sava and mountain stream Ukova. It is characterised by extremely rich ironmaking tradition, visible at almost every step. It has all the essential elements of an iron foundry settlement: a manor, a church, a residential house for workers, a blast furnace with ancillary facilities and a mill. All the facilities have been preserved on a relatively small area and nowadays represent a place, joining museum, cultural and tourist activities. The facilities are connected by a square, which has been renovated and become a new venue for performances and events, and a meeting place. The ironworks settlement Stara Sava in Jesenice has been declared a cultural monument of national importance.
